It's a good thing Janet Harding, Miss Washington 2008, works out frequently.
Balancing public and private life -- especially after controversial photos of Miss Washington 2007, Elyse Umemoto, surfaced this year -- may seem a bit of a challenge, but Harding said it's simple: "The person I am as Miss Washington is the person I am in everyday life. I do not have a dual personality. What you see is what you get."
She is a year from finishing a degree in elementary education at Western Washington University. A longtime mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, she plans to become a teacher with a certification in special education. She doesn't have a boyfriend. Like most state titleholders, Harding said she's too busy for a committed relationship and too focused on her job as Miss Washington.
