Celebrates IHOP National Pancake Day

Join Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron in celebrating National Pancake Day, on Tuesday, February 23 between 7:00am and 10:00pm.  Enjoy a free short stack of IHOP's famous buttermilk pancakes and while there, make a donation to Children's Miracle Network. As the official spokesperson for National Pancake Day and the Goodwill Ambassador to Children's Miracle Network, Caressa will be at a Los Angeles IHOP, flipping pancakes and encouraging IHOP patrons to make donations that will help children with life-threatening illnesses.

In 2009, IHOP raised more than $1.5 million for Children's Miracle Network hospitals and other local charities throughout the country.  This year, they hope to raise $1.75 million with a goal to reach a cumulative $5 million in funds raised in the first five years of celebrating National Pancake Day. Be part of the celebration and help make miracles for the over 17 million children that visit Children's Miracle Network hospitals each year.

In addition to Caressa's involvement, our state titleholders are also committed to raising awareness of National Pancake Day. Contact your state organization to see where your state titleholder will be!

Winner of Miss Germany 2010, Anne Julia Hagen, is going to Miss Earth and not Misses World nor Universe

Miss Berlin Anne Julia Hagen was crowned Miss Germany 2010 last Saturday, February 13th at Europapark Rust. And she is going to Miss Earth 2010 and not Miss World as it used to be nor Miss Universe.

Before, the winner of this pageant was usually sent to Miss World until it stopped few years back. Luckily, the organizer was able to get the franchise of Miss Earth so the winner is going to Vietnam later this year to compete for the 10th edition of the eco-themed international grandslam pageant.

Garelle Hudson to represent The Bahamas at Miss Galaxy International Pageant in Germany

Freeport, Bahamas – Miss Garelle Hudson is set to leave for Germany on Monday, February 22nd and returns March 7th, 2010 to participate in the “Miss Galaxy International” pageant. The event is set to take place in the international hub of transit, architecture and finance of Europe: Frankfurt, Germany. It is expected to host 130 contestants from countries all over the world, making it the largest (quantity-wise) beauty pageant as documented by the Guinness Book of World Records. “My decision to enter this pageant was one that weighed heavily on my mind for the past six months or so. However it was imperative that I continue to strive to set a standard not only for myself, but also an example to girls who look up to me as a resource for inspiration. It is seldom that the average twenty-year old is able to support herself in such a …”

Schools shoudnever be without...

No school should be without them -- playgrounds, chalkboards, and the one thing that could save a student's life in the event of a heart attack -- a Defibrillator. In fact, two Arkansas students have already been saved with the help of and AED this year.

Take action and help put an AED in every Arkansas school!

Last year you helped us pass a law that requires an AED for every school. But because of funding issues not every school has one. Lawmakers have cut funding for this program but Governor Beebe still considers this issue a priority. We need to have every lawmaker consider funding AEDs in schools a priority.

By taking action today you will be doing two things. You will: 1. Ask your State Representative and State Senator to find funding for AEDs and 2. Thank Governor Beebe for remaining committed to this issue.

Defibrillators in Arkansas: no school should be without one.

Mercedes Marathon 2010

I spent the morning of Valentine's Day as "reigning royalty" at Birmingham's prestigious Mercedes Marathon. I manned the coffee station of "The Royal Mile," our company-sponsored mile. With snow still on the ground in places, we braved the cold temperatures to serve coffee and donuts as a record ten thousand runners whizzed by.
As the 23rd mile of the full marathon, it took some time to see the front runner. Coffee was really popular during the brisk morning hours, with both spectators and runners alike. Surprisingly, I served as many donuts to the runners as to the spectators!

from http://www.momlogic.com/
A recent momlogic survey uncovered some interesting yet not surprising results: Teens are sexting, and parents didn't have a clue.
So now that we know what it is and that many teens ARE in fact participating ... it's time to talk about how to start the conversation:
Don't make it a BIG talk! Teenagers can smell a lecture from a mile away.

Jan/Feb. Events

I have had a great month of some amazing events! After ringing in the New Year for 2010, on Jan. 7th in support of my friend Stacey and her goal of raising enough money ($6,000) for Make A Wish Foundation, to fund one wish for a child with life-threatening medical conditions I went to my old high school and spoke on her work for the cause! I went back to Northwest High School to speak about Make A Wish, the school gave her $1.00 from every ticket sold, and we took over $250.00 in donations.
Stay tuned for a picture slideshow of these events and for more events in the my final two weeks as the reigning Miss North Carolina International 2009!

Pageant Weight Loss Tips

“Whatever you have, you must make the most of it.  Rest assured that you can transform yourself, no matter where you started from.  The most important body part is the mind.  With the will and know—how, you can perform near miracles.”

-Stuart McRobert, author of “Brawn”

Scott’s Training Systems’ goal is to help each client achieve their own personal optimal fitness level.  In the interest of pageantry our goal is to make sure each contestant we train feels 100% confident in her own skin, not only in her swimsuit, but more importantly in life.  The best approach is to be realistic and optimistic.  We will help determine what a realistic goal is and the best approach to achieve that goal.
