Beaverton beauty to compete in TLC’s ‘Countdown to the Crown’

Miss Oregon story about the TLC show...

This Friday, viewers from across the country will tune in to see a Beaverton beauty queen sharpen her skills in beauty and fashion while competing for one of the coveted Top 15 Miss America spots in TLC’s “Countdown to the Crown.”

As Miss Oregon, 24-year-old Danijela (pronounced: dan-YE-la) Krstic will be shown living with the other 51 Miss America contestants on the RMS Queen Mary, a retired-ocean-liner-turned-hotel in Long Beach, Calif.

Throughout the four-part series, the women will take part in reality-show-style team and individual contests. The premiere (Jan. 2 at 10 p.m. on TLC) will feature a scavenger hunt race through the ship and an individual challenge to determine the women’s ability to remain composed, form an argument and listen as well as she speaks.

But this year, for the first time, viewers will get to vote through the Web site and text messages for one of the Top 15, the first cut at the 2009 Miss America Pageant, shown live on TLC at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 24.
