Amanda Kozak is a former Miss Warner Robins and Miss Valdosta and the current Miss Georgia. The 22-year-old Warner Robins High School alumna is in Las Vegas this month to compete for the Miss America title. Miss America will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29 on the CMT Channel.I had a chance to sit down with Amanda earlier this month during a visit she made to Warner Robins to attend an "On to Miss America Party," hosted by the city and the Miss Warner Robins Scholarship Pageant Board.
QUESTION: What has a typical day been like for you since winning Miss Georgia?ANSWER: A typical day would be waking up and eating some egg whites and some toast. It's healthy. I try to stay healthy as much as I can. If I don't have an appearance then I would go to my trainer and go there for about two hours and then I go and tap dance for a couple of hours. And then come back and do some more cardio if I can. Then go back to Natalie's house, my preparation advisor. We'll go over current events.
QUESTION: What have you been doing to prepare for Miss America?
ANSWER: The biggest thing right now is just working on my talent. Because I think mentally if I have that under wraps then I feel a lot more prepared. It's been a lot of just working out and staying physically fit because also during the week you're very, very tired.
QUESTION: What about those interview sessions with judges?
ANSWER: I'd be in this room. There are five to seven judges and they ask you everything from what's your favorite color to how you feel about Iraq to who was the recent president who may have passed and what was his platform. So they'll hit you with anything. You've got to stay up on it because the more you know the more powerful you'll feel when you walk in there. Anything's game in interviews. A lot of times they'll try to hit you where you're weak because they want to make it as challenging as possible.
