Tiaras traded for TV spot

SHE might not have been crowned Miss Universe, but Australia's last competitor for the title is, nevertheless, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Hawkins.

Brisbane-bred model Erin McNaught has traded swimsuits and tiaras for TV hosting and wild stunts in her latest gig, presenting Channel 10's technology show Cybershack.

McNaught is quick to admit the job is more "challenging" than she initially thought. Rather than sitting behind a television playing the latest video games, the show's producers have had her in the field re-enacting the game's content in the real world.

"I've filmed three or four episodes for series two so far and I've played beach volleyball with the Dutch national team and driven a V8 buggy on a motocross track," she says.

McNaught, who was nearly eliminated from the Miss Universe contest after topless photos of her emerged, says she had never imagined she'd host a TV show, but fell into the role after returning from the US pageant.
