Miss America takes on a stellar partner

Even though Miss America and the two pageant runners-up were selected and crowned last week, the full story still has not been told.

For the first time in history, the Miss America Organization has selected a national platform. The alliance with the Children's Miracle Network represents the first ongoing philanthropic union in the 86-year history of Miss America, although the children's network has had an 18-year relationship with the pageant.

Now there will be a permanent and evolving partnership between the two organizations, according to Miss America Organization news statements.

The Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children in need of medical attention. The network raises funds throughout the year for 170 children's hospitals in North America, including the Children's Hospital at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

The hospitals give the best available medical care, preventive education and lifesaving research to help millions of children overcome devastating illnesses and injuries of all kinds, the organization says.
