Miss Tennessee shares her experiences of Miss America Pageant - Multimedia

A CHAT WITH Miss Tennessee Blaire Pancake

Last Monday, Blaire Pancake was on stage in Las Vegas at the Miss America Pageant, eventually watching Lauren Nelson be crowned by predecessor and fellow Oklahoman Jennifer Berry.

By Wednesday, she was back home in Chattanooga trying to shake off the jet lag and prepare for a drive through wintry East Tennessee to an appearance in Knoxville. She was back on her Miss Tennessee gig, working as a spokesperson for a safe and drug-free Tennessee.

It was a wild two weeks in Vegas that added $3,000 to her law school scholarship fund, and $1 million worth of memories. Never mind that she didn't get called as one of the 10 semifinalists. "The way I understand it, in 86 years of Miss America, there have been only about 3,000 girls who have been on that stage," Pancake said. "That I was one of them is incredible enough.''
