JENNIFER Hawkins flew in to Destination Myer last night as the department chain kicked off its new season's collection.

Dressed in a skin-tight design inspired by '60s flight attendants, the 22-year-old former Miss Universe stepped from a near-to-scale jumbo jet, heralding the arrival of fashion's favourite season, spring.

The Sydney event, touted as the biggest fashion show staged in Australia, was watched by proud designers Alex Perry, Toni Maticevski and Leona Edmiston, and fashion-loving celebs Eddie McGuire, Erika Heynatz and Katie Fischer.

Michelle Leslie, the model made famous by a Bali drug conviction, made an appearance among the 103 models and performers.

But the standout frock was reserved for Hawkins, who closed the show in a yellow fitted silk Alex Perry number.

Nautical but French was the dominant trend on the catwalk.

Bold stripes in navy and white teamed with red detailing were a strong theme for frocks, daywear and swimwear.
