Miss USA

Congratulations to Caitlin Morrall, Miss Wisconsin USA, for her placement in Top 15 at Miss USA! We have interviewed Caitlin on PageantCast 49 (and again briefly on 54)!

Also, congratulations to Miss Tennessee USA, Rachel Smith, our new Miss USA!

So, here's the rundown:

Top 15 in random order VA, RI, SC, UT, HI, TX, KS, MO, CA, NV, MI, LA, NC, TN, WI

Top 10 in random order VA, HI, MO, TX, TN, NV, CA, KS, UT, RI

BTW, did anyone else notice only MO in the Top 10 was a blonde?

Miss Congeniality was Miss Montana.

Miss Photogenic was Miss Alabama.

Top 5 was
4th Runner up: Nevada
3rd Runner up: California
2nd Runner up: Kansas
1st Runner up: Rhode Island
Winner: Tennessee, Rachel Smith

Viewers of this year's show got to see more of Tara Conner than I think any previous Miss USA--with her backstage and retrospectives of her "second chance."

During Evening Gown, Miss Rhode Island almost fell over on the last step, but still pulled in a 9.158 from the judges. I suspect a trend of "almost falls" to coming in this year's pageant season. I'm just saying.

With the scores for swimsuit and evening gown posted as they happened on screen, the only people that didn't know Tennessee had won were the judges and live audience. Tennessee had a 9.283 in swimsuit and 9.522 in evening gown while her closest competition was a full 0.5 points behind in each. As much as I liked seeing the scores, all the suspense was drained from the competition.
