Former Miss Washington Elyse Umemoto says she was privately living “a double life” during her reign. After nearly winning the Miss America title in 2008, she reported being physically assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. But the incident wasn’t her only challenge. In July 2008, embarrassing photos were posted on the Web and leaked to the media. Outside the limelight, Umemoto was dealing with domestic abuse.
Although his name is listed on court records, Umemoto asked that her ex-boyfriend not be identified in this story. She said she believes he's still keeping tabs on her.
So, "Miss USA is definitely a possibility," she said. "I have until I'm 27 to decide."
