CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- Miss America made her way to the Capital Region on Tuesday to encourage people to stop smoking.

Miss America Kirsten Haglund is representing Zero Smoke, which makes a product to help people quit the habit. She travels more than 20,000 miles a month to get her message out, which she says is to help save lives.


“I feel very happy to spread this message to people my age, and say, you know what, smoking is just not the way to go, let's be healthy, let's be strong so we can be the next leaders and we can go on to do wonderful things in this world and not possibly pass away from smoking,” Haglund said.
