A Miss-take! Brooklyn rips beauty pageant after it picks Virginia gal

Miss Brooklyn, go home!

A whopping 91% of Daily News readers believe Miss Brooklyn should actually hail from Brooklyn - unlike current tiara-holder Leigh-Taylor Smith, who lives across the East River in Manhattan.

"Would she even be able to find her way to Coney Island?" one reader wondered on www.nydailynews.com.

Many others readers who responded to The News' online poll chimed in with similar gripes about the decision to crown the 22-year-old Smith.

The complaints came from both purists ("She should have been born in Brooklyn!") and skeptics ("They can't find a young woman from Brooklyn who is educated, beautiful, polite?")

Readers weren't swayed by contest rules that only require contestants to live, work or attend school in the state where they compete.

Smith, who was crowned last week, has a single link to the borough: she attends the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in Bedford-Stuyesant. She just recently moved to Manhattan from Virginia, and lives a short subway hop from Brooklyn.

"Those rules need to be changed," a reader wrote.
