Miss Indiana finishes SECOND in the Race for the Crown!!

After much preparation, appearances, mock interviews, eating right, and staying physically and mentally fit, it was finally time for Miss Indiana to shine on the Miss America stage…

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all of your love and support before, during, and after Miss America and I’m so glad that you could help contribute to my Miss America experience! It has been an amazing year so far and I want to share a little behind the scenes view on what happened in Las Vegas and just give you an idea of how the week went and the things you didn’t see on TV.

Throughout the week we had many events and rehearsals that kept us busy at all times. We started with an opening ceremony and kick-off meeting with Miss America and some representatives from Children’s Miracle Network. The many rehearsals were long and exhausting, but also a lot of fun. Rehearsing for the ‘parade of states’ was first where each contestant was asked to come up with some fun and interesting fact about their state. I wish you could have heard some of the ‘fun facts’ that these girls came up with because they were so witty and hilarious. Apparently they didn’t think they were entirely appropriate, or at least didn’t think their directors would appreciate them, so they stuck with what they knew would be safe. Then, we rehearsed the patterns for the swimsuit and evening gown competitions, and enjoyed hearing the new kind of music they would be using. It really put us in the ‘runway walk’ mode and helped us find our inner runway model.

During the day we also had many fun and exciting events around the city of Las Vegas. One of my favorite events was our trip to The Venetian hotel. We were greeted by a crowd of people where we took pictures and mingled with the entertainers. There were singers, mimes, and even jugglers! We took a group picture and then enjoyed coffee, tea, and entertainment while waiting our turn to ride on the gondolas! My gondola ride was with Misses Washington, Nevada, and New York and we had a lot of fun riding down the ‘river’ and having our gondola driver sing to us! Then we went into the new shopping center where we took more pictures by their beautiful waterfalls and statues.
