| Miss America 2009 Katie Stam, MAO Chairman, Sam Haskell, III & His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward Enjoy A Royal Ceremony Miss America 2009 Katie Stam enjoyed a memorable event last week at the Duke of Edinburgh Award Presentation at the United Nations International School in New York City. Katie joined Miss America Organization Board Chairman, Sam Haskell, III and His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward. Our three distinguished guests spoke on stage and then presented the bronze, silver and gold awards to these uniquely deserving students. The students were enamored with Katie and she received an overwhelming amount of cheers and applause every time her name was mentioned. The evening was a tremendous success and one that the students will forever remember. The Duke of Edinburgh Awards is a program that encourages young people to develop into responsible, active citizens who will positively contribute to society. Sam is President of the program and is working to grow the program throughout the United States -- the award is already featured in 120 countries! The Miss America Organization has united with the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award Young Americans' Challenge. In fact, contestants in South Carolina and Ohio will be among the first Duke of Edinburgh medal recipients in the nation! Katie was honored to be a part of such a special event that highlights her platform of promoting community service and involvement. # # # | | |
