Young women with ambitions to represent their community are invited to participate in the 2007 Miss Teen Canada and Miss World youth development program. First introduced five years ago by a teacher in Langley, the program’s beauty component has disappeared and been replaced with leadership, public speaking and charity representation. Candidates receive training in self-esteem development, public speaking, modelling, etiquette, and interviewing skills. Fun aspects of the program include makeup application, hair styling seminars, a self-defence (sic) course, and a seminar on health, fitness and training by a certified personal trainer. |
