SAND SPRINGS, Okla.

A few years ago, a friend wrote “Miss America in 10 years” in Melissa Soto’s high school yearbook.

It only took Soto about half that time, however, to be well on her way to realizing that goal –– but as Mrs. Oklahoma.

Newly crowned Mrs. Oklahoma Melissa Soto and her daughter Launa stand outside the family buisiness in Sapulpa, Chastain’s Casual Cafe and Catering Company. Soto will be traveling to Arizona this summer to compete in the Mrs. America pageant.

“I hadn’t been involved in a pageant in years, but I decided to look into what competitions were out there and came upon Mrs. Oklahoma,” said Soto, of Sand Springs, who has been married for three years and is the mother of a 1-year-old daughter.
