22jul06 WELL, they don't call her "McNaughty" for nothing. Gold Coast Miss Universe entrant Erin McNaught proved she had plenty of cheek when she appeared in a Lara Croft-style outfit.
She teamed tiny khaki shorts - reminiscent of Kylie Minogue's famed gold hot pants moment - with a military-style jacket, Akubra and boomerang belt at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.
Her style statement was part of the pageant's national costume parade - an annual tradition of the Donald Trump-run competition.
The Queenslander is among 80 women vying for the prized tiara in the Miss Universe quest, with the official crowning on Sunday.
Meanwhile, she has been selected to appear on one of America's top television talk shows, Late Show with David Letterman, and will share the couch with billionaire Trump.
The 24-year-old beauty was hand-picked to fly to New York to appear on tonight's show - leaving more than 80 contestants cooling their (stiletto) heels in LA.
Some members of the Miss Australia organisation called for her to be stripped of her title earlier on because of semi-nude photos she posed for before her crowning in Melbourne.
