KELLY Pesticcio proves you CAN have both brains and beauty – after she was crowned Miss Wales 2007. But for the delighted 23-year-old medical student, from Old St Mellons, Cardiff, the title isn’t about being the envy of every young woman in Wales. To her, it marks just how far she has come after she battled hip problems and a debilitating spine condition as a youngster – which left her in plaster as a baby and with a back brace for much of her teenage years. But Kelly, who is also dyslexic, never let life’s hurdles stand in her way. Today, after winning the most coveted beauty prize in Wales, she said she was determined to be an inspiration to others who face a similar struggle. |
