Smith crowned Miss Tennessee USA 2007



CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Rachel Smith of Clarksville has been crowned the new Miss Tennessee USA 2007 and will go on to compete in the Miss USA pageant.

First runner-up in the Miss Tennessee USA pageant was Tyre Nelson, 24, of Antioch, and second runner-up was Karmen Cordell, 22, of Sevierville.

They were among 65 women who competed for Miss Tennessee on Saturday.

Smith gets a $2,500 scholarship to attend Austin Peay State University and full tuition to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Crowned on Saturday as Miss Tennessee Teen USA was Macy Erwin, a 16-year-old Tyler Academy junior from Chattanooga. First runner-up was Brie'Anna Garrison, of Clinton, and Keriann Johnson, of Orinda, was named second runner-up.

Erwin will go onto compete in the Miss Teen USA pageant.
