Former Miss Conn. to start pageant scholarship

NORWICH — Former Miss Connecticut Dianna Baitinger and her mother, Katerina Baitinger, plan to begin raising money for a local pageant scholarship fund. The two hope to promote interest in the competitions by offering teenage girls college scholarship money for participating in a New London County pageant.

“The whole point is we need to work really hard at raising money,” Katerina Baitinger said. “It’s worth (the girls’ time) if we can get them $1,000 for college. ... But we’re also looking for community support in general, to create excitement.”
