Miss America 2006 to visit Navajo Nation

FARMINGTON — Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry is planning to visit the Navajo Nation on Friday in Ganado, Ariz., where organizers say she will talk about the dangers of underage drinking.

She will be speaking to area high school students on Friday at the Ganago Pavillion.

"We're really excited when we were told she accepted the invitation to come to the Navajo Nation," said Navajo Nation First Lady Viki Shirley in a press release. "She is focusing on underage drinking too."

Berry, 23, of Tulsa, Okla., was crowned Miss America on Jan 21., and said her platform as Miss America is to relay messages to prevent underage drinking and drunken driving.
