12jun06 MICHELLE Trewartha is a homegrown girl.

She may just have jetted back from taking part in the Miss Universe national finals in Melbourne but there was no way she was missing out on the McLaren Vale Sea and Vines Festival.

The bubbly blonde was among more than 15,000 revellers yesterday, making her pitstop at d'Arenberg with personal trainer boyfriend, Dan Thompson.

(Adelaide model/designer Eliza Joy made the top six in the pageant won by Brisbane beauty Erin McNaught).

Michelle says the comp proved great for networking. She scored some guest reporting work with Today Tonight "behind the scenes" at the pageant which is on Melbourne screens tonight.

Her work included interviewing celebrity judges, designer Wayne Cooper and Olympian Cathy Freeman.

Michelle claims Wayne was "blunt" on sizing up contestants' outfits: "He said 10 per cent were good and 90 per cent awful."

Michelle featured in a spread for Auto Salon mag with other contestants.

At the fest, the ladies at Penny's Hill had eyes for one man only - singer Daryl Braithwaite, in town to perform at the winery. The ex-Sherbet frontman proved he still has it at 57.

Faces in the crowd included Austral Hotel owner Gosia Schild, songstress Nereeda and Channel 7's Rosanna Mangiarelli (who will fill in for holidaying Jane Reilly on Triple M's brekky show this week and keep up her Today Tonight duties).
