Amanda Porter, a 2004 graduate of Katy High School, will compete in the Miss Texas pageant after finishing in the top 15 of the Miss Houston pageant over Easter weekend. Porter has already won the title of Miss Fort Bend County.

If she doe well at the state pageant, she could win many prizes including a scholarship, a Ford Mustang, jewelry, spending money and many other things to help her on her way to becoming Miss USA.

Porter described the Miss Texas pageant as being “the best pageant there is,” with approximately 135 women competing, while there were approximately 55 in the Miss Houston pageant.

The Miss Texas pageant is just part of a line of pageants leading to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants owned by Donald Trump.

In order to prepare for the pageant, Porter said that she had to work out constantly, talk with pageant consultants, find sponsors and buy new clothes for interviews as well as a dress for the formal wear section.
