New Miss South Carolina Crowned

 Anna Perry, Miss Lexington, is the new Miss South Carolina. Miss Myrtle Beach Brooke Eaves, 19, was in the Top 10.

Taylor Fitch, Miss Upstate Teen, is the new Miss South Carolina Teen.

Both were crowned Saturday night, July 5, in the final night of competition in front of an audience-packed Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg, S.C.

As the new Miss South Carolina, the 23-year-old Anna Perry, wins a $20,000 scholarship and competes in the Miss America Pageant on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2009, in Las Vegas, NV. Prior to the pageant, the Miss America contestants will participate in a 10-week reality show, The Miss America Reality Show, broadcast by The Learning Channel.

Perry, from Florence, competed against 51 other contestants from across the state in a week of competition that included three preliminaries. She won two preliminaries. On Tuesday she won Swim Suit and on Wednesday she won Talent by performing “Rhapsody in Blue” on the piano.

Miss South Carolina runners-up are:

Grace Wepner, Miss Columbia, 24, first runner-up;

Danielle Wilson, Miss Whitmire, 21, second runner-up;

Morgan Smoak, Miss Coastal Carolina, 21, third runner-up; and

Amber Finley, Miss Anderson, 24, fourth runner-up.
