Local pageant spans the decades

Mother's Day beauty pageant planned at EHS

EXETER — Daughters, mothers and grandmothers can spend Mother's Day this year celebrating their beauty and individuality at the first New Hampshire Beauties of America state pageant on May 11 at Exeter High School.

The pageant will crown five state titleholders, one from each of five competing decades: Teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s and up. Contestants must be at least 13 to enter. Winners will move on to the national pageant in Myrtle Beach, S.C., this August with full expenses and entry paid, and will also make promotional appearances throughout the year for charities and social events.

Donna Kiley, director of the N.H. Beauties of America state pageant, said the opportunity for women to grow and strengthen their personalities is the most important part of the pageant, and this year, it is held on Mother's Day to honor women of all ages.

"We are celebrating female and women achievement," she said. "Plus, since it's different age decades, you can have a daughter, mother and grandmother all compete at the same time."
