Miss Wisconsin seeks local contestants

MONROE -- Young women in the area interested in competing in the Miss Wisconsin and Miss America Scholarship programs, still have a chance.

In absence of a Miss Monroe competing at Miss Wisconsin, the statewide "at-large" pageant, Miss Lakeshore, is seeking entrants for the May 6 pageant in Fond Du Lac.

Unmarried women between 17 and 24 years of age who either live, work or attend school full-time in the state are eligible to compete. Entrants will be judged on the basis of a personal interview with the judges, evening gown, swimsuit and a two-minute talent routine. The winner will advance to the 2006 Miss Wisconsin pageant, June 24, in Oshkosh. Miss Wisconsin will compete in the Miss America pageant in January.

For more information and an application contact director Susan Goeser at sgoeser@fastbytes.com or calling (920) 924-9695. Deadline for receiving completed applications is April 20.

The last Miss Monroe to compete in the Miss Wisconsin pageant was Kimberly Hallbalde in 1983. Miss Lakeshore was first established in 1992 to allow young women who don't have a local competition in their area a chance to compete in the Miss Wisconsin program.
