FROM the Beauties of America Blog: West Fargo Pioneer Newspaper

Wednesday, August 08, 2007
The people of West Fargo, North Dakota are very proud to have had a National Queen in their neighborhood and decided to send Jo-Anna off to Myrtle Beach with an article in the West Fargo Pioneer/Midweek Newspaper, dedicated to her year as America's 50s.

For anyone wishing to view the article, please log on to http://www.westfargopioneer.com/ for the story and photo.

The article centers around the inspiration Jo-Anna took from the Roger Maris"61 for 61" Fargo based event, which annually raises $$ for The Roger Maris Cancer Foundation. For the baseball fans out there, Roger Maris, a Fargo native, hit 61 home runs in 1961. His accomplishment inspired Jo-Anna to perform 52 appearances over her 52 week reign as America's 50s while in her 52nd year of life. And you guessed it, she did it!
