Art McMaster Named President and CEO of The Miss America Organization
February 13, 2007 - Atlantic City, NJ - The Miss America Organization's Chairman of the Board, Sam Haskell, III announced today that Art McMaster has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Miss America Organization. Previously, McMaster served as Acting President and CEO and held this position since January 1, 2004.
The Organization’s Board of Directors met for their annual meeting and voted to have McMaster serve in this official capacity. Sam Haskell stated, "We are delighted to announce the appointment of Art as President and CEO for our Organization. We are confident that under Art's leadership, we will continue to take this wonderful Organization into the future while building on our tradition that is 86 years rich in history."
McMaster will continue to lead and manage all organizational operations including finance, administration, security and production. Additionally, he oversees the fifty-two state scholarship programs, sponsorship development, and will serve as executive producer of the Miss America Pageant Show. McMaster and Haskell have recently introduced the new National Platform for Children's Miracle Network with Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson serving as the Goodwill Ambassador of this national fundraising program.
Art McMaster brings more than 20 years of international financial and executive management experience to this position. He joined the Miss America Organization in 1999 as Controller. In this capacity he successfully implemented information technology, new accounting systems along with reducing and reorganizing corporate overhead costs. McMaster was promoted to the position of Vice President of Finance in 2000 and then company Vice President in 2002, responsible for operational and business administration.
Prior to joining the Miss America Organization, McMaster served as Senior Planner and Assistant to Vice President for Saudi Arabian Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia from 1992 to 1999. Previous to that McMaster served as Controller for the engineering firm of Day and Zimmerman, Philadelphia, from 1988 to 1991, and served as Field Administration Manager for Raytheon Engineers, Philadelphia, from 1985 to 1988.
