The 2009 Mrs. Alaska Pageant is over and a Kim Huitt crowned a new queen. Erika Bennett of Anchorage and Talkeetna was selected to represent Alaska’s married women at the Mrs. America Pageant in Tucson, Arizona in September.
The pageant was held at Bartlett High’s new auditorium on July 18, 2008.
Contestants competed in interview, cocktail dress, sportswear and evening gown, and prizes were given out for most children, businesswoman, best thank you note, best gown, and many other categories which will be posted later.
While it was definitely a great night for Erika, she had her work cut out for her and it was not an easy victory. Judge Rick Morrison told the Examiner that every year the contestants are coming in with more knowledge and more polish.
