Hosting Miss Universe 2008: 80% chance for Vietnam

Miss Universe officials wearing Vietnamese traditional hats VietNamNet Bridge – According to parties concerned, Vietnam, which is hosting Miss Universe Organisation officials on a 3-day investigation tour of 4 major cities, stands a great chance of hosting Miss Universe 2008. Since the evening of August 7, the Miss Universe panel, including President Paula Mary Shugart, has been meeting with Vietnamese authorities and companies as well as visiting destinations in HCM City, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Hanoi to check out their infrastructure, hotels, theatres, transportation situations, communications and other factors necessary for a host country of the Miss Universe pageant. According to Paula Mary Shugart, the name of the winner will be announced by herself some time in the next 2 months. Besides Vietnam, other countries on the shortlist for Miss Universe 2008 are Japan, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. “To tell you the truth, it was I who chose Vietnam as one of this year’s investigation destinations.
