I just recently interviewed April Storms-Britt, Mrs. North Carolina United States 2007 and she was an absolute delight. She told us about her first runner-up finish in the Mrs. United States pageant, her experience at the pageant and in Vegas with the endless walks! She also told us about her vast past modeling experience for Venus Swimwear, Snap-On Tools, and many others--and the resulting television appearances on programs like "Blossom" and "Thunder in Paradise."
We will have this interview on the PageantCast just as soon as I can!
Official Press Release:
Bladen County native named 1st Runner Up in the Mrs. United States Pageant!
April Storms-Britt continues making numerous personal appearances across the state of NC since being crowned Mrs. North Carolina United States this past March, making her the most visible Mrs. NC United States in history! Just a few weeks ago in Las Vegas, the NC beauty competed in the National pageant and was named 1st Runner Up to Mrs. United States 2007!
The Silverton Hotel & Casino hosted the 2007 Mrs. United States National Pageant July 8-12, 2007 to celebrate beauty, intelligence and professional achievement. Fifty-four married women representing all American states and territories competed for the prestigious Mrs. United States title.
Mrs. North Carolina United States, April Storms-Britt and her husband Don who now reside in Whiteville, NC have been married for six years and have a four year old daughter, Isabella. April is not only a wife and mother but also a dance instructor at Amy’s Academy of Dance Arts, a photographer, a Girl Scout leader, and former model who has graced the cover of over 100 swimsuit catalogs, calendars and magazines. “She is definitely an extraordinary woman who wears many "hats" with extraordinary fashion and we are SO proud of her!” stated Wanda Baucom, director of the Mrs. NC United States pageant.
April is not disappointed about her placement in the National pageant because she knows that her focus going into the Mrs. North Carolina Pageant was to bring awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. “I believe that even the most problematic individuals can turn their lives around. As a sibling to a recovering addict, I have witnessed first hand, along with my entire family, the many dangers of substance abuse. Through this experience, I have learned that true fulfillment in life comes from helping others regardless of their age, situation or condition. The way we see people is the way we treat them, and the way we treat them is what they become. Whether I am Mrs. United States or Mrs. North Carolina United States I will have the opportunity to share my message of hope with all ages across the nation” said Britt who is planning a trip to the Delancey Street Foundation in New York the week of August 14th.
The mission of the Delancey Street Foundation is to provide a structured environment in which residents can learn the skills they need to rebuild their lives. The residents of Delancey live and work together. Using the principle of "each one, teach one", the residents take responsibility for each other's welfare and hold each other accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in everything they do. April visited the Delancey Street Foundation in Greensboro, NC back in June.
Before Mrs. NC US hit the National stage in Vegas, Lu Mil Vineyard in Dublin, NC sponsored April’s Official Send-off Celebration.
