This evening, Jo-Anna was honored to be one of the Judges for the First Annual Mr. El Zagal Pageant!
In Fargo, North Dakota, the Shriners have a large chapter known as the El Zagal Shriners. This is a wonderful group of fun loving gentlemen who were all too happy to reach far beyond their comfort zone and hold the First Annual Mr. El Zagal Pageant and raise money for the Shriners Hospitals across the country.
As you can imagine, this male "beauty pageant" was a hoot from beginning to end.
During the on stage interview portion of the pageant, candidates were asked hilarious questions based on their biography/ profile. Although Jo-Anna struggled to maintain her composure, it was lost by the second question and Jo-Anna laughed so hard her sides hurt!
Then came the "Fitness Wear" portion of the pageant, where delegates strutted out in anything from a grass skirt and coconut "top" to fishing gear, along with fishing pole and lures! The Fitness Wear was unique and imaginative to say the least!
"Evening Wear" was the next category, with delegates parading in outfits ranging from the sophistication of a Tuxedo to a Grizzly Bear Suit in lingerie to the family pride of a Scottish Kilt.
The last area of competition was the "Photogenic" area, where contestants posed for a photo while on stage. The poses chosen were hilarious, matching the delegate's personality and got cheers from all in attendance.
Unlike most pageants, the delegates were permitted to bribe the judges with flowers, teddy bears, refreshments and even $$ - it was a fun time as depicted by the photos.
Congratulations to Scotty Lyn Uhrich for being "crowned" Mr. El Zagel 2007!!!
Many thanks to the three judges, Jo-Anna Yvorchuk, America's 50s; Jennie Toso-Kenna, Mrs. North Dakota America 2007 and Theresa Sather, BOA North Dakota 40s 2006.
