A
Public Service Announcement about domestic violence starring
Keira Knightley is set to debut in theaters. The two-minute clip, which will start airing April 6, depicts
Knightley being violently kicked and beaten by a man. "While domestic violence exists in every section of society we rarely hear about it," says the actress, who volunteered to act in the clip for the charity Women's Aid. "Domestic violence affects one in four women at some point in their lifetime and kills two women every week."
It's about time that stars and legislature stand up and realize the enormity of the issue at hand. With the rate of domestic violence up the largest percentage in years, 25% of women having been abused and the rate of
homicides linked to domestic violence something needs to be done.
