Actress Delta Burke was dropped as a judge for this year's Miss America Pageant after she became ill during Wednesday's preliminary competition.
The six judges had interviewed 28 of the 52 contestants when Burke, best known as beauty queen Suzanne Sugarbaker on the television series "Designing Women," was unable to continue.
Pageant officials announced Thursday her scores would be voided and the preliminary winners will be based on the five scores from the remaining judges.
The judges are actress and choreographer Debbie Allen, celebrity photographer Nigel Barker, broadcast journalist Chris Matthews, former Miss America Susan Powell and music producer Michael Feinstein.
The breakdown for scoring is 30 percent for composite preliminary score, 30 percent talent, 20 percent evening gown and 20 percent swimsuit.
Harman promotes new CD
Katie Harman, former Miss Oregon and 2002 Miss America, was in Las Vegas promoting her latest CD, "Soul of Love." Harman is a motivational speaker and an accomplished operatic soloist.
Her new CD offers a collection of love songs based on Italian, French and English poetry.
Portland's Michael Allen Harrison served as pianist and composer for the CD.
A CD release party and signing was held Saturday in connection with the pageant.
