YUCCA VALLEY — Beauty and brains run in the family. Or at least they do in the Polos family. The two oldest daughters in a family of five girls both will be representing the desert region in upcoming statewide beauty pageants.
Katie Polos, 19, has been selected to represent the desert region as Miss Palm Springs in the Miss California USA Pageant. Her sister, Brea, 16, will be competing in the Miss California Teen USA pageant.
Katie was the 2007 Miss Yucca Valley and Brea is currently serving on the court as the third princess.
“It would be nice to show that good things come out of Yucca Valley,” she said.
Brea is going to be a senior at Joshua Springs. She plays varsity volleyball and is a member of the school’s Associated Servant Leadership class. She also is involved in the church youth group.
