As pageant organizations and contestants around the country can attest to, the tough economic times have cut into financial contributions. How did Mallory combat this in order to raise extra funds for her and her family to travel to Houston, Texas? Mallory utilized the social networking website Facebook and started a contribution page for friends to donate as little as a dollar to her efforts, and also went back to the basics of fundraising - by having a good old fashion car wash of course! Mallory and her team of dedicated supporters (her family, friends and the Executive Director of her state pageant, Tiffany) hosted a successful car wash in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in order to raise funds for the trip. Overall, it was a great weekend and showed how even the most basic efforts make a difference when it comes to fundraising and marketing.
Mallory will be working with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (www.saveourlake.org) to speak to youth around the state about the importance of coastal restoration.

Hey y'all! Anyone interested in coastal restoration efforts should get involved with America's WETLAND: Campaign to Save Coastal Louisiana. The foundation works to raise public awareness of the impact Louisiana’s wetland loss has on the state, nation and world and to gain support for efforts to conserve and save coastal Louisiana. They need our support!
