While she lived in Barron for only a short time in her life,
Amanda Eileen Kozak said Tuesday morning that she enjoyed her time in Barron and many times that she came back for visits.

These remarks came just hours after placing second runner-up in the 2007
Miss America Scholarship pageant held Monday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.

Kozak, a 22-year-old Leo who won her state crown June 24, 2006, in Columbus,
Ga., after several attempts at the state crown, was happy to have placed among the
final ten in the Miss America pageant and was even more excited to have been named second runner-up.

"It was great. I had a wonderful time here in Las Vegas, and all of the women (the fellow contestants) were great."

It is the fourth consecutive year that a Miss Georgia has placed in the pageant's semi-finals and the second consecutive year that one has placed in the top five.
Last year, Monica Li-Pinn Pang, was first runner-up in the pageant. She crowned
Kozak as her Miss Georgia successor this past summer.
