Miss Connecticut's life a Cinderella story of its own

-MILFORD — Miss Connecticut Heidi Voight said Sunday she's nervous about the shopping and packing she has to do before leaving Friday for the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas, but she doesn't have any butterflies about the event itself.

Her short-term goal is to win, and her five-year goal, Voight said, is to be a former Miss America who's enjoying a successful career in show business and entertainment.

When she steps on the stage in Las Vegas later this month, Voight will have overcome far more than most who have ever entered their local and state pageants.

On Sunday, Voight was the star at her send-off party in her native Milford at 21 Daniel St., a nightspot where family, friends and other supporters gathered to wish her well.
