WATERTOWN, N.Y. (AP) _ The Miss America Organization has begun receiving bids from New York communities seeking to become the new home of the Miss New York State Scholarship Pageant, which has been held in Watertown for the past 27 years, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The national organization decided last week that it would not renew its annual contract to hold the event in Watertown, a decision that came as a shock to state pageant officials.
