Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron Enjoys a Spectacular Homecoming! Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron being escorted into the Friday Night Gala by Roanoke Mayor David A. Bowers On Wednesday, March 10, the red carpet was rolled out in the state of Virginia, and soon the festivities began to welcome home Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron! This was the first time Caressa returned to her home state since being crowned! A ceremonial crowning of Miss Virginia, Chinah Helmandollar, was the first event planned for Caressa. Several regional reporters and TV crews came out to see Miss America in her home state. Highlights of the day also included a visit to the Lincoln Terrace Elementary School, where Caressa was again greeted by the media but most importantly, by the students who waited eagerly for her to speak and offer her message to them. She stressed the importance of always doing the right thing and shared with them ways that they could make good choices that would positively affect their lives. When Caressa sang, the students' faces showed their true admiration for Miss America! Steve, Chairman of the Board of the Miss Virginia Organization, and his wife, Billie Sue, hosted a lovely party for Caressa, attended by the Miss Virginia Organization's Board Members, the newly-crowned Miss Virginia, former Miss Virginia's, and Caressa's immediate family. The next day, Caressa made a visit to the Carilion Children's Hospital to interact with the children and their parents. She was a wonderful ambassador for Children's Miracle Network. Nancy and Kevin Dye provided a very elegant reception in their magnificent, mountain top home and we sincerely thank them for their generosity. With a breath taking mountain view, Caressa, was able to engage with all of the guests and share her appreciation with them for their support. Although short, the party was most impressive. Then, Caressa was off to the Friday night Gala/Paparazzi Party at Taubman Museum of Art, where Caressa spoke and sang beautifully. Miss America 1979 Kylene Barker and Miss America 1999 Nicole Johnson, along with other Miss Virginia's from the past were on hand to help celebrate Caressa's homecoming! On Saturday, Caressa spoke to a full room at the Shenandoah Club, which donated the proceeds to Children's Miracle Network. Later that afternoon at the Hotel Roanoke, several hundred people came to receive Caressa's autograph. The enthusiastic crowd was incredibly excited to meet Caressa!
