QUALIFICATIONS The male and female contestants compete against each other in their respective age categories with the male and female achieving the highest scores being crowned as the winners. The competitive areas of the competition are: Introduction (30 seconds max - tell something about yourself), Caribbean Wear (typical attire for the Caribbean island/country you are representing), Talent (5 minutes max; does not have to be a Caribbean talent), Formal Wear (does not have to be a Caribbean formal wear) and Educational Forum (2 minutes max; brief speech based on research you did about the Caribbean island/country you are representing). Winners receive a cash prize, crown, trophy and sash.
Remember, you DO NOT have to be a native of the Caribbean; however, you have to have some form of exposure to the Caribbean culture via personal experience, upbringing, knowledge gained from family/friends or research. The pageant is open to the public. You do not have to be a resident of NC to participate. There is a maximum of 6 contestants per age category. Registration deadline for contestants, entertainers and Island Fire Models is June 1, 2009. Island Fire Models and Entertainers are required to fill out an Entertainer Application.
