Mrs. Oregon International 2008: Hands Across the Bridge

Today I had the pleasure of participating in a joint event involving Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington recovery advocates in kicking off Addiction Recovery Month activities.  

Hands Across the Bridge is the regional celebration which is part of a national effort held in cities all across the country.  At the climax of the event, an estimated 1,000 people stood hand in hand as they spanned the Interstate Bridge connecting Oregon to Washington, over the Columbia River.  The gesture served as a visible reminder of the many lives effected by the chronic disease of addiction.
