Laura Dundovic, 21, is now Australia’s 2008 shot at this year’s Miss Universe title, after beating 28 other hopefuls from across the country to take out the title, the same one that made Jennifer Hawkins shoot to stardom. For over two hours of competition the primped, preened and perfectly presented hopefuls strutted their stuff on the catwalk in evening wear and skimpy bikinis. They also answered questions from the judges, such as how they would improve Australia and who would they have invited to the recent 2020 Summit. When answering a question about improving the environment, the third-year university student said… “people should use less hairspray” OMG stop the press, call the prime minister… did a beauty contestant actually say these words? I think we have a genius on our hands. It’s bad enough that these archaic contests are still allowed to take place, however, what kind of hope does Australia have when their top rating beauty queen’s answer to helping the environment is to go easy on the Taft! |
