If you're seeking a show that mixes the drama of the mother-daughter dynamic with the back-stabbing cruelty of reality competition yet still leaves room for a big dance number, check out The CW's "Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants," debuting tonight at 9, after the season finale of "America's Next Top Model."
The show brings 11 mother-daughter teams from across the country to compete in a no-holds-barred beauty pageant with a $100,000 grand prize. Its teams live together in what judge Carson Kressley ("Queer Eye for the Straight Guy") calls "Barbie's Dream House." But with catfights, too few bathrooms and vocal exercises at 7 a.m., the "dream" feels more like a nightmare. "It's like 'Big Brother,' but with big hair and makeup," Kressley says.
