MISS ENGLAND will be sharing her recent victory in the competition with the people of York - when she tours the city centre on an open top bus.

Georgia Horsley, 20, of Norton, who was crowned Miss England last month, will be winding her way through the streets of York on the double-decker bus on Sunday, along with runner-up in the competition and current Miss York, Naomi Smith, 19, of Copmanthorpe.

The bus tour - which will depart from Exhibition Square at about 6pm, and finish back at the square at about 6.45pm - is to welcome Miss England home, after she triumphed against 91 competitors at the three- day competition in Leicester.

The tour promises to be a fine spectacle for residents and visitors alike. There will also be some of the other finalists of the Miss York competition on the bus.

Georgia, who was keen to make time in her hectic schedule to celebrate with the people of York, said: "I'm very much looking forward to the tour. I can't wait! I'm very excited - it will be brilliant. It will be a nice opportunity for us to share our success with the people of York.

"I'm very glad that Naomi will be there to share in it. I haven't seen her since the competition, so it will be nice to see her again and have a good catch up."

Georgia, who won Miss York in 2005, a competition backed by The Press, said her being Miss England - a status that will involve her being an ambassador for York all over the world - had still not sunk in.

"I'm still on cloud nine. It's fantastic," she said.
