Miss America visits here to aid Miracle Network

Wednesday, May 16, 2007 By Monica Haynes, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Shoppers at Sam's Club in Ohio Township got the opportunity to see a beauty queen and help a good cause as Miss America Lauren Nelson spent several hours at the store yesterday.

Miss Nelson's visit was part of a celebration of the Children's Miracle Network's 25th anniversary and the monthlong campaign by Wal-Mart to raise $10 million in May. The Children's Miracle Network is dedicated to raising funds and awareness to improve medical facilities and health care for sick children.

"We've been working with them for 18 years, but it's the first year as a national platform," she said, explaining the Miss America Pageant's involvement with the charity.
