Washington's Largest Annual Parade Saturday, April 14, 2007
Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson will participate in one of Washington's fondest traditions the 2007 Parade of the National Cherry Blossom Festival this Saturday, April 14. The parade march travels along Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Street passing the Washington Monument and The White House.
Known as the largest spectator event in the Nation's Capital, Lauren will be among the celebrities to greet over 100,000 spectators. Loved by all ages, this parade is in its 95th year and celebrates the 3,000 Cherry Trees in full bloom that were a gift to the people of Washington from Tokyo in 1912.
Giant inflatable balloons, marching bands, and performers will burst down Constitution Avenue in an energy-filled spectacle of music and showmanship seen only once a year during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson will be singing "You'll Be In My Heart," from Tarzan the Musical.
The 2007 Parade of the National Cherry Blossom Festival will be broadcast on ABC7 (WJLA) and NewsChannel 8 in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas.
