Miss California to perform at CLU

Jacquelynne Fontaine
Moorpark resident Jacquelynne Fontaine will sing during a concert slated for Samuelson Chapel, California Lutheran University, at 8 p.m., Tues. March 13. She'll be accompanied by pianist Janet Kao.

Fontaine was named Miss California last July and she competed in the 2007 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January. There, she won the talent portion of the competition during three days of preliminaries and was one of the top 10 semifinalists the night of the pageant.

"I had a wonderful time. It was everything I expected it to be, and more," said Fontaine.

During the Miss California competition, Fontaine also won a preliminary talent award and the Leni Arnhym Classical Performer award. Fontaine graduated from CLU magna cum laude in 2004 with a degree in music. She's currently a candidate for a master's degree in vocal arts at the USC Thornton School of Music, where she's a student of Gary Glaze.

Kao, her accompanist, is completing a doctorate at USC. She earned a master's degree at Julliard. Admission to the concert is free.
