On Thursday, March 22, Lauren will arrive in Bedford County, Virginia to begin working with the Safe Surfin' Foundation and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces (ICAC). Lauren will complete in-depth training in all aspects of Internet Safety and film public service announcements (PSAs) for both the ICAC Task Force and the Safe Surfin' Foundation that will be distributed nationwide. Lauren will then attend a ceremony welcoming her as an honorary member of the Southern VA ICAC Task Force and making her an honorary Deputy Sheriff in Bedford County - a distinction also held by NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal. The Safe Surfin' Foundation provides parents, teachers and school administrators, law enforcement, community groups and librarians with the information and resources necessary to keep children safe and their exploration of the Internet fun. Through its interactive website, special events, materials, PSAs, and other educational opportunities, Safe Surfin' educates the public about Internet crimes involving children. |
