Daye crowned 2007 Miss Ouachita Baptist University

Nicole Daye of Minden, Louisiana, earned the title of 2007 Miss Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday, March 3, in Jones Performing Arts Center. She was crowned by Rachel Fruchey, the 2006 Miss OBU.

Daye, a senior history and political science major, was sponsored by Beta Beta men’s social club. Daye also won a preliminary award for interview.

At Ouachita, Daye is a member of EEE women’s social club and the College Republicans and has been nominated for inclusion in Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. She was the 2006 Miss Ouachitonian Beauty and a member of the 2005 Miss OBU Court.

The first runner-up to Miss OBU was Catherine Raines, a sophomore business administration/management major from Camden. Raines, who was sponsored by EEE women’s social club, also won preliminary awards for swimsuit, talent and People’s Choice.

The second runner-up was Audrey Anna Harrell, a sophomore early childhood education major from Russellville, who was sponsored by Tri Chi women’s social club.

Sarah Johnson, a freshman Christian studies/Christian theology major from Brazil, was third runner-up, and Jen Spore, a dietetics and nutrition major from Mountain Home, was fourth runner-up. Johnson and Spore were also sponsored by Tri Chi women’s social club.

Brooke Bowman, a freshman Russian major from Goddard, Kansas, was the winner of the Miss Congeniality award.

The Miss OBU Pageant is a Miss America and Miss Arkansas local preliminary pageant. Seven Ouachita students, including four Miss OBU winners, have gone on to win Miss Arkansas. In addition to the state titleholders, numerous runners-up and preliminary talent winners have come from the student body.
